This CD-ROM is the companion to QuickTime: The Official Guide for Macintosh Users. [Hayden Contact info. Just in case someone gets the CD without the book!]
Late breaking news:
In Appendix A (Other QuickTime Software that’s on the CD) we describe version 2.2 of the freeware application Sparkle. We now have an updated version—2.2.2. Instead of a separate Power PC version the application is now "fat"—one application works for both the 68000 and Power PC. There are also additional, related programs in the Sparkle folder; read the files in the Docs folder for further information.
A quick tour of the CD:
System Files Folder:
This is where QuickTime and other extensions are that you need for running QuickTime on your Macintosh. See Chapter 1 for installation instructions.
Media Folder
This folder contains 7 subfolders, one for each of the chapters that have exercises.
MoviePlayer Folder
Contains the latest and greatest version of MoviePlayer from Apple.
Shareware
This folder has six unique pieces of shareware and freeware for use with QuickTime.
Note: The price of QuickTime: The Official Guide for Macintosh Users does not cover Shareware fees! If, after trying any shareware, you want to continue using the program, pay the fee! Instructions for how and where to send your shareware fees are found in text files that you’ll find in the folder containing the shareware program itself.
Unsupported Stuff
This folder contains some very powerful tools from Apple's QuickTime team. They are, however, unsupported, so they have not been tested completely and you use them at your own risk!
Utils
The QuickTime Scrapbooks are here and so is SimpleText.
FX Editors
This folder contains TWO fully functional versions of commercial software. VideoFusion's QuickFLIX! 1.1.1 and Avid's VideoShop 2.0.3. Yes, they are complete working versions.
More Movies
This folder contains about 300 megabytes of movies from many sources.
Demos
This contains demo versions of Apple PhotoFlash and Adobe Premiere, as well as some other demos.
